Overnatning i New York

With more than 75,000 hotel rooms, mostly in Manhattan, visitors to New York have plenty of sleeping options. Long the most expensive hotel market in the country, room rates have softened recently, falling from an average of $310 per night in 2008 to less than $220 a night earlier this year. That means great deals on high-end properties, which are increasingly willing to offer discounts or other incentives for multiple-day stays. All the major hotel chains have a presence in Manhattan, with several sleek new boutique options scattered throughout the downtown area. Budget hotels are scarce, but do exist. Beds at the Hostelling International New York youth hostel start at $29, while rates at the European-style Larchmont Hotel on a lovely block of West 11th Street in Greenwich Village start at $90 for a weekday single and include continental breakfast.
